during stanlys free time he has been hanging out with zero and trying to teach him how to read and write, they have become the best of buddys! but the tenching between the boys and mr.sir and the wa rden grows and stanly finaly gets the courage to take off after zero ran off the day befor. he looks for him for 3 days wandering in the dessert and finaly findes him under an old boat. they drink some what i would think would be nasty peach juice and start heading to this mountin called "gods thumb". there they struggle to reach the top because they havent really eattin or drank anything in a while. when they reach the top the are supprized to find a filed of onians and they eat and drink and sleep there.

so as days go by stanly and the boys continue to dig hoping come across something that would get them out of digging for the day. but one day stanly does find another little treasure! he digs up what they first thing is a golden lipstick tub but when x-rax gives thehe it to mr. sir and he tells them that it is a golden bulit from the famous kissing kate barrlow, who back when green lake was still a lake had robbed stanlys great grandpa. the warden gives x-ray the day off. from there the boys spend days digging in the area where x-ray clams he found the bulit. stanly and the other boys begin getting more and more annouied of the way the the warden and mr. sir are treating them and stanly is thinking more and more about running away from the camp but is hesitend because the camp has the only water for 100 miles.

After Stanley returns from digging his hole he makes his way to the wreak room. there he gets in a fight on accident with one of the older boys at camp green lake. but his tent mates step in and help, they also give him the nick name cave man which means that they except him and they'll stop being jerks to him. on the second day out digging cave man (Stanley) digs up a fosil and remembers that if he finds anything interesting and the warden likes it then he'll get the rest of the day off. so he keeps it to himself and when mr. sir comes with the water he shows it to him and he laughs at him because he thinks its stupid. when mr. sir leaves x-ray calls him over to his hole and tells him that if he finds anything else to give it to him because it wouldnt be fair that he finds something the first week at camp when hes been there for months and cave man agrees to.

now that Stanley has moved to to him tent and started to get familiar with the way things are done around the camp he still feels on the outside. they are woken up at about 4:30 in the morning which seems to Stanley about the time he fell asleep, they are heading out to start digging his first hole! each of the were handed a 5 foot long shovel and were marched across the dryed up lake. Stanley has trouble with him hole right from the start. he has trouble getting it started thanks to the crusted top layer of earth he has to break throught then oncec he gets started he keeps dumping the dirt he shovels right back in to his hole. also throughout the chapters it flash backs to how his great great no good dirty rotten pig stealing grandfather became so unlucky. at 15 he fell in love with a girl in his home town and wanted to marrie her but so did another creepy old guy so the father of the girl said that who ever brought him a fatter pig on him daughters 15th birthday would be allowed to marrie his daughter. so he went to madam zeronie an old egyptian woman who lived on the outskirts of town. she told him to take her smallest piglet and ever day carry him up a mountain and sing him a song and he will grow big and strong. but the deal was that after he brought the pig to the father of the girl he had to go back to madam zeronie and carry her up the mountain so that she could grow big and strong. but when things didnt work out with the ather and daughter stanleys great great grand father left the country for america leaving madam zeronie to die so she cursed him and all of his ancestors.

for my award winning book im reading holes. if you somehow haven't heard of this book or seen the movie its about a hopeful but unlucky boy who gets sent to camp green lake after being accused and prosecuted for steeling a pair of shoes. when he get to the camp he is suprize to find no trees no grass and no lake. instead he finds him self in a small smelly tent with six other boys in the dried up remains of the lake. each day the boys are told to dig one hole, 5 feet deep, 5 feet across. their told their digging to build character...we'll see what happends!

a detective comes in because of the second murde.r and Heather trys to explain to him about how the key went missing with out anyone noticing which is something that just DOSEN'T happen. but the cop is just kinda looking at her like she is making no sence or something. while they are she is showing him around the crime site someone (the killer) slips the key back on the rack with out any one seeing the do it. so when they get back they see this and the police still dont care so she calls cooper and cooper and her go on a little investigation up tothe new dead girls room to look around a little bit. when they get there their met by her roomate who tells them that just like the 1st dead girl she had been seeing a new guy and never really dated befor him and how again the roomate had never seen him. so now heather thinks that the killer is some creep who goes out with quite girl then kills them after their date...

It been a week since Elizabeth's death and heather and rachel just finished packing up and sending home all of her stuff. on her way down to her office heather stops by the front desk to check in with the student worker when she notices that the elevator door key is not in the box. she asks the girl who has it and how long its been out but the girl tells her that she doesnt know and that it was missing when she got there. she heads donws stairs to try and see if rachel has any clue where it may be when she is stopped by another student worker peter who tells her not to go down stairs because another girl has "fallen" to her death in the eleavtor shaft. she runs up stairs and is meet by rachel who in a freaked out tone tells her to go in her office and start making phone calls to the buildings administrators, but insted she call cooper who if you dont remember is a private investigator and she thinks he can help.
